Wang Yuchuan
Wang Yuchuan A native of Raoyang, Hebei.
In 1930, when the Association for the Promotion of Gwoyeu Romatzyh was established, Wang Yuchuan became a member.
In 1932, he co-hosted the Gwoyeu Romatzyh training institute in Jinan with Xiao Jialin and others.
During the Anti-Japanese War, he came to the southwest rear area and served as an English teacher at the National Women’s Normal College in Baisha Town, Jiangjin, Sichuan, while also teaching National Language in the National Language Department. He invented the “Eclectic Teaching Method of Phonetic Symbols”, which greatly benefited the students in the National Language Department.
In 1946, he and Wei Jiangong and others were invited to become standing committee members of the Taiwan National Language Committee, and he continuously promoted the National Language in Taiwan thereafter. He was a loyal follower and promoter of Gwoyeu Romatzyh. He practiced his National Language teaching methods at the Taiwan National Language Experimental Primary School, but was forced to stop due to the “February 28 Incident”.
